Here's a sweet little ring with a stone labeled "Poppy Jasper." Given the colors, the stone is likely from the Morgan Hill deposit in California. This material was named after our state flower, the California Poppy, because of its poppy images. The deposit sits on our infamous San Andreas Fault so much of it is heavily fractured. Fortunately though, as Hans Gamma notes, some of this fractured material has been healed by Chalcedony or infiltration by iron solutions.

Gamma notes that this beautiful Jasper isn't confined to the Morgan Hill area. He features rockhound Martin Kramer who "picked up his first piece of Morgan Hill Poppy Jasper when he was 10. His many finds in Santa Clara County have reconfigured the range of this iconic jasper by hundreds of square miles."

The curious book, Wisdom of the Gemstone Guardians (below), quotes Poppy Jasper: "My mission for the planet is to provide it with the equivalent of adrenaline...[adrenaline] generates a feeling of joy that keeps you going. It can also give you the energy you need to get through challenging situations. This extra energy is what I give to the earth..."

A tiny Carnelian wanted to join the party and sits below. This is a sweet, colorful little ring, I think you might like it.
