We've discussed ammonites several times in the articles about my other ammonite items. I've lost count of the times I've used ammonites in my work. Each example is so different from the others that it is hard to realize the stones are all fossils from one family. And some day I have to figure out how to use a wild, opalized, skeletal, totally steampunk pyritized ammonite that is about the craziest one I've ever seen. In contrast, this example is simply luscious with its neutral colors and marvelous wavy designs. A little faceted citrine adds sparkle.

This piece has been sitting around for several years because in setting it, I chipped a tiny flake off of it (on the upper left). I was doing my best not to damage it, fossils like this can flake or even break. A very thin bit came off, leaving a dull spot where the rest is shiny. You probably will have a hard time seeing it in the photos, and it is less conspicuous in person than in the photos (which are so much larger than the actual brooch). So what to do? It's still a very pretty brooch. So I'm offering it at a big discount rather than let it sit unloved in my inventory. Please order it if you'd like to give it a good home!
