Blue Opal is common Opal, that is without opalescence. Wiki calls opalescence a form of Tyndall scattering, the same effect which causes exhaust from two-stroke motorcycles to appear blue. I could talk about motorcycles with you all day! But perhaps you came here to hear about these pretty Blue Opals instead.
The long, faceted Blue Opal and semi-transparent taupe stones are show stoppers! The faceted briolettes are the same pure, clear blue. Blue Opal is a great match for "Serenity," one of the 2016 Pantone colors. They might almost be mistaken for Blue Lace Agate, but are a little more densely colored compared to the slightly more translucent Blue Lace. This simple necklace can be worn anytime; it will look lovely with your taupe suit, your "Serenity" blue blouse, and with your jeans. And the earrings are totally cool even on their own.
Unfortunately I had to withdraw this set because a couple of the large stones developed little cracks along the edge near the holes. I have had Blue Opal craze and crack before, I hoped this material would be OK. It is very distressing to have this happen since the stones are so lovely. If the stones don't get any worse over time, perhaps I will remake the necklace using the earring stones, or offer the necklace with only 5 long beads instead of 7.
