Here is a fascinating matte-finish heart with an abstract composition of Azurite on matrix along with a little Malachite which, over time, has replaced some of the Azurite. Gary Wilson often sees potential in stones others might overlook, and this is an example. What more beautiful way to highlight the blue and green colors than with simple "brushstrokes" on a light background? Tiny Malachite cabochons decorate the prongs and Karen Ovington's handmade glass beads and the small sand-cast beads in the grey strand echo the stokes of color in the heart.
Once again we are faced with a mystery material in the light-colored disk beads. They were listed as "Magenite" so I assume they are actually Magnesite. (They definitely are not the similarly-named Magnetite which is a blackish, highly magnetic iron oxide.) Because it is virtually white, you often find Magnesite dyed very unfortunate colors to make fake turquoise and other faux stones. In its natural state though it has a very lovely neutral color which blends perfectly with the Azurite matrix (perhaps Siltstone) in our heart.
Melody says Azurite mellows the intellect with love, how perfect for a heart-shaped stone! Ahsian says Magnesite aids the body in releasing tension or stagnation.
