The four winds cross is an ancient Native American symbol. Reticulating silver is very interesting material. It has slightly less pure silver in it than sterling, and is alloyed to cause it to behave like this when it is heated and pickled repeatedly. On the last heating cycle, the surface begins to crinkle up making most interesting patterns as you can see here. The earrings are nearly weightless and the crinkly surface gives off lovely sparkles.
