Tso'Yah Sitsa Necklace |
Daryl Shack made the bear, cabochon, baby bears and fish just for this piece. He chose the most extraordinary turquoise I have ever seen! Tso'yah Sitsa's right front paw has a window of clear quartz, very unusual in turquoise. She is highly polished, has inlaid eyes and has been given a beautiful offering bundle. Daryl named the carving and signed her paw with his mark. Daryl explained, "Tso'yah means pretty or beautiful and sitsa is often added to female names as a sort of a suffix." She has a very sweet, almost wistful expression and richly deserves the name Beautiful Woman! The babies are about an inch long, beautifully carved from Kingman turquoise and also have inlaid eyes. The abalone fish is lively and iridescent. Huge irregular disks of Sleeping Beauty turquoise and one Blue Gem Mine bead in the drop complete the composition. So the entire piece is made from varieties of natural Nevada and Arizona turquoise. It is a bit of a challenge to make a piece like this. The carving is suspended with a double wrap of heavy, 49-strand beading cable. I never want the fetish to be uncomfortable, so I covered the cable with tiny 1.5mm baby olive heishi Then it was important to thread the cable so as not to interfere with the beautiful bundle while still insuring she would hang properly. The bezel setting is fabricated with attachments for the suspended bear and for the necklace strands. The heavy bead strands are also attached with double strands of heavy cable. Please note the weight (above). This is a heavy piece, very large and dramatic. I hope you will order her today! |
