It is hard to capture all the lovely nuances of color in Karen's fabulous beads! The large translucent beads are aquamarine, the middle strand is the lavender "quartz." Quartz is used in quotes because although the material was quite expensive, one can't always be sure what these new varieties of quartz really are. The beads are beautifully faceted and look gorgeous, whatever they are. The small silver beads and the necklace cones are fine silver (99.9%+ pure silver). Fine silver has a softer glow than sterling and will not tarnish like sterling does. The longest strand is strung on cable as the glass beads are fairly heavy, the other strands are hand knotted silk. LOVE BEADS: This piece includes "love beads," beads given to me after the fire by friends and strangers. The necklace carries the energy of their loving concern. |
