The centerpiece bead looks like a little vessel, but actually it is a bead with a hole through it. It is attached to the longest strand with a sterling armature, though you can't see any of the metal. A beaded bead covers the top attachment. The longest strand is strung on cable for strength, the others are hand-knotted silk. The olive jade and rose quartz picked up the bead colors perfectly. The flat elements in the olive jade strand are pearls. The faceted square beads on the shortest strand are gorgeous pineapple "quartz." This is the name under which it is sold, but some say it isn't quartz at all. Whatever it is, it is beautifully cut with a strange milky pale blue glow under certain lighting conditions. A frothy springtime necklace! LOVE BEADS: This piece includes "love beads," beads given to me after the fire by friends and strangers. The necklace carries the energy of their loving concern. |
