Perhaps someone will write to tell me what type of fish this is. The Panamanian indians carve beautifully realistic animals like this handsome fish. Even looking at it closely, it is very hard to believe the "coral" is not real. In fact, it is very delicately carved tagua nut or vegetable ivory. The carver signed the back of the piece. The carving and necklace of unusual, rough Baltic amber are extremely light weight. |
