These kumihimo earrings match the necklace shown here. I thought this design was such a good idea (and they are pretty!) but the earrings were absurdly time-consuming to make and I won't be making any more! The reason is this: the kumihimo braid requires tension be maintained on each strand. This is an 8-strand braid, with 2 threads in each strand. Each end of each thread must be cut individually and finished off while maintaining the tension on the braid, or the whole thing is lost! That means 32 threads per earring have to be cut, woven back in carefully, etc. The color is much better in the professional photo of the necklace than in my photo of the earrings. Please check out the necklace to get a better idea of the colors. LOVE BEADS: This piece includes "love beads," beads given to me after the fire by friends and strangers. The necklace carries the energy of their loving concern. |
