The centerpiece raku fish button has lovely color and a lively shape. The three needlewoven strands are stuffed with all kinds of treasures, from old trade beads to pearls and shell. It is endlessly fascinating to play with! Raku is a ceramic technique which originated in Japan 400 years ago. Raku involves applying glaze to a bisque piece, firing it, then thrusting the red hot pieces into a container full of combustible materials. The container is covered to produce heavy smoke. The smoke, interacting with the glaze, creates one-of-a-kind finishes. For some reason, the blue fish reminds me of the Celtic salmon of knowledge and the Native American salmon of wisdom. Wouldn't a such a salmon be blue? Please order this fine fish and enjoy the rich textures and complex strands. |
