The Apache sage jasper in this tie clip and cufflinks set has images of piñon pines and saguaros. The stones are somewhat darker and more richly colored than my photo indicates. If you have to wear a tie, you undoubtedly need to take little trips to re-connect with Mother Earth, and wearing these pieces it's easy to let your imagination wander off into the desert!

Apache sage jasper is actually a rhyolite, sometimes called Mimbres Valley rhyolite. Outcrops occur all over southwest New Mexico, and apparently Utah "wonderstone" is the same material though the examples I've seen have more gold and dark grey in them than the typical Apache sage. Rhyolite forms out of viscous, silicon-rich lava which flows slowly at or near the surface. If this type of lava cools quickly it does not have time to crystallize and it forms obsidian or volcanic glass instead. Dr. Pough calls rhyolite the igneous equivalent of granite. Curiously, The Book of Stones doesn't mention rhyolite. Melody assigns rhyolite to Sagittarius and says it represents change and promotes insight. Surely insight would be helpful in your desk job, wouldn't it?
