I'm entranced with the East Indian pieces which use cowrie shells in endless ways as tassels, flowers, and other decorative elements. I love shells in general. This is a very simple looking piece, with a lot of beadwork in it. The thin necklace is needlewoven, with beads worked into it. Don't worry, sea urchin spines aren't sharp! They are the long beautifully colored dangles on the left. |
