I made this piece for my mom. She was never
interested in old beads, so the ones in this piece are all new. Capturing the
fish so that he swims nicely was a bit of a trick. I used hammered oxidized
copper wire so the attachments would disappear. He sits on a little wiggly
piece of flattened wire and works perfectly as a bead even though he has no
hole. As mentioned elsewhere, I am indebted to Lynne Merchant for sharing so
many of her wire working techniques. She is incredibly creative, always coming
up with new bead and chain ideas. I use beads she designed a lot because they
are so rich and beautiful.
